Which license applies to which files
==============================================================================

Everything in this repository is licensed under AGPL-3.0-only, with the
additional permissions in LICENSE-EXCEPTION.md, except:

- examples/ and skills/ are licensed under the MIT License. The MIT notice
  below applies to them, with "Software" meaning those files.
- src/pocket_music/audio_note_projection.py adapts part of Basic Pitch 0.4.0,
  and src/pocket_music/audio_note_projection_v2.py adapts the same part plus
  the retained-frame count from Basic Pitch commit e989e40. Spotify AB's
  portions are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0
  (src/pocket_music/basic_pitch_LICENSE.txt); Pocket's changes are licensed
  under AGPL-3.0-only. Basic Pitch's notice is reproduced below.
- assets/fonts/ contains the Atkinson Hyperlegible Next font, licensed under
  the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1 (assets/fonts/OFL.txt). It is used
  only by the website.

Source files carry an SPDX-License-Identifier line at the top. A few files can't
carry one: JSON and binary files, license texts, and files whose exact bytes
are part of a recorded identity, where adding a line would invalidate existing
records, qualifications or native acceptance. Those are:

- src/pocket_music/audio_note_projection.py (see above)
- src/pocket_music/audio_note_projection_v2.py (see above)
- src/pocket_music/audio_model_runner.py
- src/pocket_music/audio_note_runner.py
- every file in src/pocket_music/devices/

Apart from the Basic Pitch derivatives, they are licensed under AGPL-3.0-only
like the rest of the core.

Pocket was licensed under the MIT License from commit 9b43c78 (2026-09-22)
through version 0.4.0: the source at commit
3ba9a4f1ba8d34039371702092bc86a65696b105 (tag v0.4.0). Copies of those versions
remain available under the MIT License. Later versions are licensed as
described above.

Every change in Pocket's history up to that version was made by, or under the
direction of, Ryan Palermo, so there are no other contributors' MIT notices to
carry forward. The MIT notice for those versions, and for examples/ and
skills/, follows.
